The Difference Between Affirmations and Mantras. Why you should really be using both.

Even the strong of us need strength. There is a difference between mantras and affirmations. You really should be using both on a daily basis. Here’s why.

The mind is a terrible thing to waste. As a nurse I see stress manifest into physical symptoms such a heart attacks, high blood pressure cases, and sadly even strokes.

The difference.

Affirmations are meant to affirm a statement. It’s a sort of positive self-talk. In my opinion the best affirmations begin with two powerful words- I am.

Keep the words positive. They key is to use action words. These statements can be repeated daily.

While both affirmations and mantras reprogram thinking- mantras are a way different. Mantras are statements or sentences to help in the moment. It helps with a form of meditation.

Holding onto your power and controlling the mind is done by using affirmations and mantras. They can actually keep you from having a melt down.

Try using affirmation during devotional readings, your morning routine, or nighttime recap. Repeat mantras at any moment you need reduce stress or refocus.

My mantras for 2020 so far are-

Bloom where you are planted.

Done is better than perfect.

Peace over prosperity.

I have even added them to my 2020 vision board.

When I find myself stressing I say these statements to myself repeatedly until I am at peace. Mantras really help to refocus. You can have a mantra for the month or one for the moment. When feeling stress or overwhelmed think of your mantras. Close your eyes. Focus on the bridge of your nose. Take a deep breath inhale through your nose and slowly out of your mouth. Repeat your chosen mantra until relaxed. Then smile. You got this. 😉

Here are some examples of affirmations:

I am strong. I am enough.

I am doing great things.

I am in control.

I am worthy. I am beautiful.

I am prosperous. I am inspired.

I often sit and reflect on areas of my life that need work and create affirmations that lean towards changing behavior.

For example.

When I lack energy- I am energized.

When I have trouble completing a task – I am a task completer.

When I am frustrated at work- I am exactly where I need to be.

Stressed out- I am in control. One day at a time. One task at a time. I can do it all, but not all at once.

Now it’s your turn, if you haven’t already done so, create a list of affirmations. Second place the list in a visible location:

• in your car

• On the fridge

• Phone screensaver

There is power in resetting and reframing thinking.

You have the power to choose action when faced with adversity.

Until next post- wishing you love, light, and liberation.

Master the Mind: Corona Craze

My heart is actually pretty heavy. I feel the need to share the art of Mastering your Mindset. ⁣Over the last few days I have had to dig deep to find the positive in each day.

Birthday plans didn’t go as expected.
Work has been stressful.
Technology hasn’t been cooperating.

I am really feeling like there are not enough hours in the day.

However I don’t let bad moments create a bad day.

I make a choice daily to focus on the positive. I also stay with expectation that something great is about to happen.

There are certain things we can’t control. We do have a choice on how we allow the matters of life to affect our well-being. ⁣

I believe if we can master our mindset we can master our lives. ⁣

Five ways I do this is by ⁣
🔹Reciting affirmations & mantras⁣
🔹Journaling⁣
🔹Praying ⁣
🔹Guarding my gates ⁣
🔹Humming/listening to music ⁣

What do you do to master your mind?

Protecting and Prevention: Against Coronavirus and Germs in General

What’s up earthling. ⁣

𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬. ⁣

Today ya prosperity pusher is talking about the current issue at hand. The coronavirus. I know it’s a serious matter but am I the only one that wants to head to Chili’s and have a CoronaRita every time the hear the word. 🤦🏾‍♀️⁣

Let’s get into it. Germs are everywhere. I’m my previous post I asked you when the last time you cleaned your cellphone? 👀 ⁣

I was guilty as well. I’m cleaning my IPhone daily now. ⁣

This video includes some things I’ve done to keep my family safe. Make sure to save this post to reference later. ⁣

🔹 Boost up your immune system⁣
🔹 Load up on Vitamin C, Green Tea⁣
🔹Drink lots of water ⁣
🔹Wash your hands before you eat⁣
🔹Stop touching your face especially your eyes or mouth with dirty hands⁣
🔹Sanitize things you use often remote controls, door knobs, fridge handles, etc⁣
🔹Open up the windows in your home daily ⁣
🔹 Stay home if you are sick⁣
🔹 Get enough rest⁣
🔹 Sneeze into tissue and throw it away⁣

There are three ingredients I use to clean almost everything in my house- A spray bottle with filled with half water, 3/4 of vinegar, and dish soap. Yes. I use this to clean the stainless stove, refrigerator, microwave, even wood. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant. If it is good enough to clean my poultry- it’s good enough for me.

Simple Self-Care

Sometimes self-care isn’t something fancy like a massage at the spa or getting nails done.

Msjoypoli sitting on the couch

Often it is simply being honest with self. Over the last two weeks I have been battling symptoms such as stuffy nose, congestion, and chills. Thank God not all at the same time.

Meanwhile, I have been nursing the whole house back to health. Yesterday I went to two events. Keys to Building Wealth empowerment seminar was ah-mazing. I learned something new from all the dynamic speakers.

Then I went to a wedding last night.

All with my active one-year old daughter in tow.

I had a planned lunch date today. I really wanted to connect with this beautiful queen. I had to cancel. I felt like my body needed the rest.

So on today’s episode of self-care Sunday… I’m staying home. Writing gratitude thoughts in my journal, while watching my daughter play.

I’m also writing down 3 things I hope to get done this week.

What are you doing today for self-care?

I usually designate Saturdays or Sundays for self-care. Either an at-home pedicure, a facial, or. relaxing massage.

Feeling lost? Here are some self-care strategies:

– Take a nice walk in the park
– Read an inspirational article
– Write down what’s going right in your life.
– DIY a sugar scrub for your hands and feet.
– Stretch
– Put on some positive music and dance
– Phone a friend

Health is Wealth

In 2019, I spent months at home with my newborn daughter. This meant long nights of sleeping maybe 2-3 hours at a time. I didn’t want to take her out in the midst of the flu season.

We spent most days at home on the couch.  Prior to my maternity leave,  I was working almost an hour away from home.  I needed something closer.  After the baby arrived, I prayed daily. Then I would check the company website for job openings.

You see if I didn’t return to the same company there was a possibility that I would have to pay back the money they gave me for short-term disability. That definitely was a no no.Then the day came that I found and applied to an open position. Shortly after I got the great news that a job interview was scheduled. Then my grandma passed.

I was a ball of emotions. I was sad one moment knowing that my grandma was now gone. Then it would warm my heart thinking of her laughter. The next moment I was overjoyed holding my baby in my arms. Then I  had butterflies wondering about this interview.

My grandma was called home on a Sunday. I had to go to the job interview that following Monday. All I could tell myself was that although my granny panny was small she was strong. She would want me to use that strength that women in our family carried and crush the job interview. So I went and nailed it.

Around this time last year I remember leaving my pre-employment screening. . All those long nights with the baby and days spent missing my grandma had affected my health. My blood pressure was too high and I needed a doctors sign off in order to start working. There were so many thoughts running through my head. What if I have to go to the hospital? Who is going to care for my baby? What if left untreated and I had a stroke or worse. I had to get myself together fast.

God wouldn’t bring me this far to leave me would he?  Nevertheless I went to the urgent care. They ran tests. Sent me to see a cardiologist. Thank God I was cleared to start the new position. My blood pressure was never higher than 110/60 and now I was at risk.

More about this story will be posted on my blog, including the changes I made to get back on track.

I said all that to say this. No one lives a perfect life. My blood pressure is back to my baseline. I am healthy. But listen to your body. When you get bad news, make the necessary changes to bounce back. If there is a will there’s a way. You got this.
